4| Een wonder

Stel je voor, dat ik drie benen had
en het derde af en toe vergat,
zeker weten ik kreeg kramp;
’t werd een regelrechte ramp.

Refrein:
Maar ik heb twee voeten om te lopen,
te dansen en te springen;
één mond om mee te spreken,
te eten en te zingen.
’t Lijkt gewoon, toch is het heel bijzonder.
God bedankt, het is een wonder!

Stel je voor, dat ik twee monden had
en ik at kroket en veel patat,
ik werd rond als een ballon
en zo zwaar als schokbeton.

4. A Wonder
Say I had three legs, imagine that,
I’d run faster than the fastest cat,
but my trousers wouldn’t fit
with a third leg, not one bit!

Refrain:
But I have two feet
to use for walking,
for jumping and for swinging,
one mouth to use for talking,
for eating and for singing.
It might not strike you
like a bolt of thunder,
but thank you God, it is a wonder!

Say I had two mouths
and so four lips
and I ate whole cakes
and piles of chips,
I’d grow round with not one dent
and be heavy as cement.
